Personal Development House System Values & Phones Update

 THE RAMSEY ACADEMY VALUES

Here are our new Ramsey Academy values. They were voted on by students, staff, and the wider local community. These values clearly define what we stand for as a school and are designed to help you behave and succeed.

Resilience = the capacity to recover quickly from difficulties, adapt well to adversity, and bounce back to a state of balanced normality. It involves being able to "bend rather than break"

Aspiration = having a strong hope, ambition, or desire to achieve

Mutual respect = treating all individuals with dignity, valuing their feelings and boundaries, and appreciating diverse or opposite viewpoints

 THE RAMSEY ACADEMY HOUSE SYSTEM

Values and Recognition

Each House reflects the core values we promote across the school. Students are recognised for demonstrating qualities such as:

  • Resilience
  • Aspiration
  • Mutual Respect

Belonging and Personal Development

The House system plays a key role in supporting student  personal development. Through the House, students will develop:

  • A strong sense of belonging within a smaller community
  • Confidence and leadership skills
  • Teamwork and collaboration
  • Pride in both individual and collective achievement

Opportunities and student leadership roles will also be part of this process and enable you to take on responsibility and contribute positively to school life.

THE RAMSEY ACADEMY HOUSES

Each term, houses are aiming to win the House Trophies:

  • Attendance
  • House Points
  • Interhouse Competitions
  • Overall House Championship Cup

 CLUBS

Taking part in clubs offers valuable opportunities to try new activities, build confidence, and enhance the overall school experience. At The Ramsey Academy, a wide range of clubs are available, with options changing throughout the year to provide ongoing variety and engagement.

Clubs take place during lunchtime and after school, catering to a broad range of interests—from sports and fitness to creative pursuits such as crochet, as well as practical activities like cookery.

Participation in clubs supports the development of new skills, encourages social connections, and helps foster a strong sense of community within the school. Information about current club offerings and how to get involved is regularly shared through tutor notices and displayed on screens around the school.

COMPETITIONS

Taking part in competitions provides an excellent opportunity to challenge abilities, develop new skills, and celebrate achievement. A wide range of opportunities is available, including sporting events, subject-based challenges, and practical activities such as cookery.

Participation in competitions allows talents to be showcased while also contributing to the wider school community. In many cases, involvement can support a house system, where achievements contribute towards collective recognition such as house points and trophies.

Engagement in competitions helps to build confidence, encourage enjoyment, and promote a sense of accomplishment, while also recognising success and fostering a positive, motivated school environment.

This year, we will have many competitions, including the following:

House Trophies:

  • Attendance
  • House Points
  • Interhouse Competitions
  • Overall House Championship Cup

Further Competitions:

  • Charity Fundraising challenge
  • Junior Maths Challenge
  • Library competitions
  • Writing competitions
  • Ramsey’s Got Talent
  • Faculty competitions
  • Sport’s Day
  • Cookery competition
  • The Bridge Community Award

THE RAMSEY ACADEMY REWARDS SYSTEM

Rewards such as House Points, Student of the Week and Values Awards are important because they recognise effort, celebrate your achievements and encourage students to keep aiming high. They show that the positive choices students make—whether that’s working hard in lessons, showing kindness, or demonstrating resilience—really matter. When student contributions are noticed, it helps them to feel proud of their progress and motivates them to continue improving. Based on student  feedback, we have introduced a new rewards system to make sure recognition is even more meaningful, fair and motivating for everyone, so that every student has the chance to be celebrated for their successes.

 TUTOR TIME

Tutor time is an important part of the school day and lasts for 30 minutes each morning. It provides students with a structured start to the day where they can get organised, check their equipment, and prepare for learning. During this time, they will receive important information, take part in activities that support personal development, and address key skills such as literacy, numeracy and foundational knowledge, and build positive relationships between peers and the tutor. Making the most of tutor time helps students to feel ready, focused and confident for the day ahead, and plays a key role in supporting success in school.

Tutor Programme

Assemblies

Assemblies at The Ramsey Academy play an important role in bringing the school community together and supporting personal development. They are carefully planned to reflect key themes in current affairs, promote student wellbeing, and mark significant historical events, helping to broaden understanding of the world. Assemblies also reinforce British values alongside the school’s own values of resilience, aspiration and mutual respect, encouraging a positive and inclusive culture. In addition, they provide opportunities to introduce careers education, raising awareness of future pathways and aspirations. Through this varied programme, assemblies help to inform, inspire and support all members of the school community.

Bridge Academy Trust

We are a collegiate and collaborative Trust, where, first and foremost, each school is a place of (high quality) learning, where young people ENJOY, ENRICH, ACHIEVE, ASPIRE.
